StandardAero, a major engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) firm, is adding 300 full-time positions at its Sharonville facility — marking its third significant expansion in Greater Cincinnati.
The expansion adds 120,000 sq ft of leased space, bringing the total campus footprint to nearly 11 acres and swelling the local workforce to more than 1,000 employees — up from approximately 700.
This move comes with a boost in payroll: over $13.8 million annually for the new roles. StandardAero, with support from JobsOhio, REDI Cincinnati, and Sharonville City Council, is stepping into higher gear to address growing aerospace demand.
Aerospace-Driven Growth in Cincinnati
StandardAero’s Sharonville facility specializes in CFM International engine component repair and supports both commercial and military aviation. With the aerospace sector contributing almost $7.8 billion to the region’s economy, this expansion reinforces Cincinnati’s role as a national aerospace hub.
The new roles — machinists, parts inspectors, and bench operators — will tap a trained workforce pipeline. That’s possible thanks to local partnerships with vocational schools and talent initiatives from JobsOhio and REDI.
Why Sharonville Leads in Manufacturing
Sharonville actively pursued the expansion. Mayor Kevin Hardman emphasized the importance of job creation and supporting the supply chain. REDI’s CEO, Kimm Lauterbach, noted that this expansion strengthens “a regional network of innovation and manufacturing.”
Ohio-based incentives also played a role. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved an eight-year, 1.433% Job Creation Tax Credit for StandardAero’s expansion — confirming the state’s confidence in the project.
A Win for the Regional Workforce
The new hiring push opens numerous opportunities:
-
On-the-job training for technical roles
-
Competitive wages between $27.50–$45/hour for entry and mid-level positions
-
Career growth paths from machinist to operations management
Such offerings align with broader efforts to reduce employment barriers and uplift blue-collar talent — especially important in Hamilton County’s evolving economy.
Broader Economic Impacts
For Sharonville, this expansion supports downtown revitalization, an increased tax base, and community investment. And in Northern Kentucky and the larger metro area, StandardAero jobs in Cincinnati symbolize one of the clearest pathways to high-skill careers without leaving Southwest Ohio.
This comes at a time when other industries are slowing — making reliable, local job creation even more valuable. Community leaders are optimistic this move marks a turning point toward deeper aerospace cluster development.

Perspectives from the Front Lines
Tim Mathis, vice president and GM at StandardAero’s Cincinnati facility, emphasized the core of the initiative: “We have a great team whose talent and dedication drive our success every day.” REDI noted that the project “strengthens our ability to invest in our people”.
JobsOhio CEO J.P. Nauseef highlighted the company’s growth as evidence of Ohio’s competitiveness in aerospace, while local legislators like Rep. Brownlee echoed the move as a boost to Ohio’s manufacturing base.
