A fatal collision early Thursday morning in the Price Hill neighborhood has left one person dead, and police are still searching for the driver who fled the scene.
According to the reports of FOX19 and WCPO, the crash occurred around 1:19 a.m. at 4029 West 8th Street, when a 2010 Ford Escape traveling eastbound on West 8th struck a 2012 Acura TL that was heading southbound on Rosemont Avenue.
The driver of the Acura died from their injuries. Police have not yet released the victim’s identity.
According to the statement by Cincinnati Police Department (CPD), the driver of the Ford Escape fled on foot immediately after the crash.
Officers believe that impairment and excessive speed were contributing factors. It remains unclear whether seatbelts were being used.
Incident still under investigation
The incident is under active investigation. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have information about the fleeing driver, to contact CPD’s Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
As Price Hill residents process the tragedy, the case highlights a pattern of serious traffic-related incidents in the area this year.
Recent months have seen multiple deadly crashes in the neighborhood, including a separate head-on collision earlier this month that claimed a life.
This latest crash brings renewed attention to road safety and enforcement efforts in Price Hill, especially on West 8th Street, a corridor that has repeatedly appeared in local traffic-incident reports.
