The Northern Kentucky University (NKU) announces its additional Master of Business Administration (MBA) options in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Supply Chain Analytics.
NKU partners with Risepoint to help expand the university’s online MBA to include concentrations in AI and Supply Chain Analytics, the university said in its press release on Monday.
According to the announcement, these new tracks will prepare students for leadership in tech-driven, data-intensive industries.
The AI concentration blends strategy, analytics, and ethics. This helps future leaders understand how artificial intelligence reshapes operations across areas like finance, marketing, HR, and operations.
The Supply Chain Analytics concentration emphasizes skills in logistics optimization, predictive modeling, and real-time decision making, especially relevant for regional businesses and industries reliant on efficient supply chains.
NKU’s online MBA remains flexible for working professionals: students can customize their program while working full-time.
Why NKU is expanding its MBA concentrations now
NKU had already taken steps to integrate AI more broadly across its academics. For example, its College of Informatics has launched AI-related initiatives. The “Born Before AI” lecture series aims at expanding AI literacy among students and the wider community.
Moreover, NKU secured a $300,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to help build AI instructional capacity. This positions the university as a regional leader in AI education.
Taken together, these moves show that NKU is aligning its academic offerings with the growing demand for tech-savvy business leaders who understand both data analytics and operational challenges.
What the new MBA concentrations offer
- Artificial Intelligence concentration – Combines analytics, strategy, and ethics. Prepares graduates to lead AI initiatives across fields like marketing, operations, finance, human resources, and more.
- Supply Chain Analytics concentration – Focuses on global supply chain management, logistics, data-driven risk management, predictive modeling, and real-time decision-making in modern supply environments.
- Flexibility for working professionals – The online format allows candidates to earn their MBA in as few as 12 months, with 5-week courses and multiple entry points per year.
- Industry relevance – Given Northern Kentucky’s proximity to major business and logistics hubs, the new concentrations may prove especially valuable for regional employers and professionals.
How NKU’s broader AI efforts reinforce the new concentrations
The introduction of these MBA tracks builds on NKU’s earlier steps to integrate AI across its curriculum and community outreach:
- In 2024, the university launched a minor in applied artificial intelligence, the first of its kind in the region. It allowed students from many majors to get a foundational grounding in AI, machine learning, and related ethical/legal issues.
- NKU’s College of Informatics continues to lead broader efforts in AI readiness. In 2025, they secured an NSF grant to support nationwide efforts to improve AI education capacity, underscoring NKU’s commitment to leading-edge, tech-driven education.
These developments reflect a growing recognition at NKU. Business education must evolve rapidly to meet changing market demands. This is especially true as AI and data analytics transform industries worldwide.
