The Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) is preparing for a busy fall season filled with Halloween activities, culinary classes, extended museum hours and fundraising events.
The museum will offer several events throughout October and November as visitors look for ways to enjoy the cooler months.
Cincinnati Museum Center plans Halloween events
The museum will host After Hours: Halloween Edition on Oct. 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. The 21-and-over event will include spooky experiments, a costume contest, a scavenger hunt, karaoke and a DJ.
The museum will also host Halloween at CMC on Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The family-friendly event will feature dinosaur-themed activities, science demonstrations, children’s activities and a Monster Mash.
The Halloween programming gives families and adults separate opportunities to celebrate the holiday at Union Terminal.
Culinary classes add to fall schedule
The museum’s Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio is also offering programming during the fall season.
The culinary studio combines food, science, culture and wellness through hands-on classes. Visitors can take part in classes while exploring other exhibits and activities at the museum.
The programming adds another option for visitors who want an interactive experience beyond traditional museum exhibits.
Cody Hefner, CMC vice president of marketing and communications, said that they have programs for adults in partnership with the University of Cincinnati.
“This is about mindful eating practices, so [like] how to cook mindfully, how to chop mindfully, plan meals, because a lot of us we’re so rushed and we’re not thinking even the little things when you put oil on a pan, how much oil is that really?”
The program basically promotes eating and cooking with intention, to guide people to be healthier and feel better, Hefner explained in an interview with WLWT.
Fall fundraiser supports museum programs
One of the museum’s major fall events is Layers of the Unknown, scheduled for Nov. 6.
The adults-only fundraiser will feature food, drinks, live entertainment, experiments and access to museum exhibits. Cincinnati Museum Center said the Layers series has raised more than $1.4 million since 2019.
The fundraiser helps support the museum’s exhibits and educational experiences.
More events continue through November
Cincinnati Museum Center will also hold Friday Night at the Museum events on Oct. 16 and Nov. 20. The program extends museum hours until 8 p.m.
Visitors can also see LEGO Jurassic World: The Exhibition, which is scheduled to remain at the museum through Jan. 4, 2027.
With Halloween events, culinary programming, fundraising activities and special exhibitions, Cincinnati Museum Center is entering a full fall calendar.
“It is our largest fundraiser of the year, we call it ‘Party with Purpose’ . We turn the rotonda to a dancefloor with a live DJ. It is such a great time,” Hefner added.
