Quarterback Joe Burrow rebounded from a difficult stretch to lead the Cincinnati Bengals to a commanding 45-21 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.
According to CBS Sports, Burrow threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns, completing 25 of 32 passes for a 146.5 passer rating—the second-best of his career.
The win improved the Bengals’ record to 5-10, snapping a two-game losing streak, while the Dolphins fell to 6-9.
Defensive surge flips the game
The contest was a narrow 17-14 Bengals lead at halftime, but the tide turned dramatically in the third quarter. As reported by Bengals.com, Cincinnati’s defense dismantled the Dolphins by forcing four consecutive turnovers to begin the second half.
The momentum shifted when Bengals safety Jordan Battle forced a fumble by tight end Greg Dulcich, which was recovered by Myles Murphy.
According to The Big 1050, subsequent interceptions by rookie linebacker Barrett Carter and cornerback Jalen Davis allowed the Bengals’ offense to capitalize with a run of 35 consecutive points.
Chase Brown makes history
Running back Chase Brown was the primary beneficiary of the defensive takeaways.
Reported by Sports Illustrated, Brown scored three touchdowns in the third quarter alone—two receiving and one rushing. He became the first player in Bengals history to record two receiving touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the same game, a feat he accomplished in just a seven-minute span according to various news reports.
Milestones for No. 9
Despite both teams already being eliminated from playoff contention, the game served as a milestone night for Burrow. According to Bengals’ official website, Burrow surpassed 20,000 career passing yards, becoming the fifth-fastest player in NFL history to reach that mark.
Additionally, he reached 150 career passing touchdowns, trailing only Patrick Mahomes and Dan Marino for the fastest to achieve that total.
Other scoring contributions included:
- Tee Higgins: Caught a leaping 9-yard touchdown to open the scoring.
- Samaje Perine: Added a 4-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter.
- Mike Gesicki: Scored a 17-yard touchdown against his former team in the fourth quarter.
“That’s how it’s supposed to look. That’s how it’s supposed to feel. So we’ve got to keep that feeling going the next couple of weeks and build some momentum,” Burrow told the press regarding the team’s offensive rhythm.
The Bengals return home to face the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday at Paycor Stadium, as reported by Action 247.
